With our new quick set up Wizard, getting started with your new theme has never been easier. Once you have installed and activated your new theme you will presented with a 7 quick and easy steps that will give you a head start in setting up your new site.
Step 1 – Installing the recommended plugins
Here you will be able to install and activate a number of recommended and or required plugins for your site. The plugins include the following required plugin Flothemes Updater, and 3 recommended plugins, FloShortcodes, WPBakery Visual Composer and Widget Importer & Exporter.
Step 2 – Importing the Demo Data
NOTE! Do not import dummy content if you have an existing site, as this will mix it into your existing content.
Also note that you should install and activate the Widget Importer plugin if you want the demo widgets.
Once this is done, select the demo version you wish to import, and then select import Dummy Data.
Step 3 – Setting a Home Page
This will allow you to assign a home page to your site. That is the first page someone lands on when they go to your site. You can either select an existing page, or create a new page and then press the button “Set the home page”.
Step 4 – Setting a Blog Page
This will allow you to assign a blog page to your site. That is the page for all your blog posts on your site. You can either select an existing page, or create a new page and then press the button “Set the blog page”.
Step 5 – Create your menu
Here you can create a main menu. This will create a menu from your existing pages. You may want to edit your menu after doing so, or ignore this step completely.
To update your menu, go to Appearance > Menus, and select the menu you wish to edit.
Step 6 – Quick Styling
With the quick styling section, you’re able to add your own logo, a favicon (thats the small icon that shows in the browser tab) and if present, select the style kit for the theme. These items can all be changed later if required.
Step 7 – Enabling Pretty Permalinks
Enabling pretty permalinks is good for SEO. Why? Because it makes permalinks readable, its no longer just a number and ID. If you have a custom permalink structure, its best not to select this option.
Now thats done, you can start to edit your site.
